I was born and bred in Norfolk, and have lived near Dereham for most of my life. I am married with grown-up sons, grandchildren and a great grand-daughter. I worked as a self-employed businessman, but was driven to pursue a career in politics from my sense of public service.
I became a councillor in Breckland, going on to lead the District Council for six years. I have also served Yare and All Saints at the County Council for several years where I have worked on behalf of local residents with determination and consistent achievement.
In 2015, I became leader of the County Conservative Group and, a year later, Leader of Norfolk County Council. I have devoted my time since then to getting the Council and its finances back on a sound footing. I believe in holding authorities to account and will continue to work hard and stand up for my constituents.
