"As County Councillor for the village of Coltishall I have received a number of queries concerning the communication strategy to local residents regarding developments at the former RAF Coltishall site. In particular, there were concerns about the timing of announcements made about Vitromite, which is a new business hoping to set up production facility in one of the hangers making products for the construction industry using recycled glass. This prompted me, as the local county councillor for Coltishall to raise the issue at the County Council's Policy and Resources Committee on Friday. I was assured by officers of the council that steps have been taken to strengthen arrangements by changing the protocol used to issue statements about the former RAF base.
"In future, I have been assured that notifications to the Community Liaison Group (which consists of local Parish, District and County Councillors) will be sent out when perspective tenants submit their planning proposals to either Broadland or North Norfolk District Council. For me, it is vitally important that we as members of the local community are kept timely abreast of any developments on the site and I welcome that the County Council have recognised this.
Councillor Tom Garrod
Conservative Norfolk County Councillor for Wroxham Division"
