Writing to the Editor of the Eastern Daily Press, Conservative Leader Bill Borrett reiterates why the Conservatives opposed the County Council budget.
The recent Budget set at County Hall by the Labour led Administration by a majority of only 2 votes is a high risk and unsustainable budget.
The Conservative Group originally proposed to amend the Budget which covers several hundred million pounds of taxpayers money. However as our team delved deeper into the detail it became clear that there was very little "good wood" for us to nail our amendments onto.
The actual budget document says "current proposals are not adequate to deliver a balanced budget in future years" it will therefore be necessary to have a further mini budget in the summer after Labour has fought the local elections in Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
You may draw your own conclusions, we certainly have done which is why we voted against it.
